The Impact of Home Repairs on Neighborhood Crime



Gina South, MD led a cross-sectional study to understand how repairing houses in Philadelphia neighborhoods impacted crime rates. The study team found a remarkable outcome, with the intervention associated with a 21.9% decrease in crime. The study focused on homes owned by low-income individuals in Black neighborhoods around the city.
