Medical Student Fellow Dan Stokes led a recent study looking at the social media posts of state legislators to learn more about how they talk about the opioid epidemic. The study team, including Anish Agarwal, MD and Zack Meisel, MD, found that the content of the social media posts differs across party lines. Democratic state legislators tended to post about the need to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable for their role in the epidemic, while Republican state legislators tended to focus their messaging on stopping the drug trade.
