Austin Kilaru, MD receives multiple grants exploring policy approaches to implementing evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder. Dr. Kilaru, a National Clinician Scholar and emergency physician at the University of Pennsylvania, is the recent recipient of a pilot award from the SAEM Foundation and NIDA. This award provides training opportunities to junior investigators interested in dissemination of evidence-based practices related to substance use disorder. With mentorship from CECPR faculty including Dr. Zachary Meisel, Dr. Jeanmarie Perrone, and Dr. Kit Delgado, he has also received a pilot grant from the Penn ALACRITY Center to study the implementation of a Pennsylvania program to improve warm handoffs for patients with opioid use disorder from the emergency department. An additional pilot grant from the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics supports a project to understand national rates of successful transitions to follow-up care for opioid use disorder
